Other possibilities are turning it into a large piece of jewellery; or gluing several to a cone to create a beachy Christmas tree; or gluing small shells inside the lip of the paua shell to make an even more beautiful ornament.

The shells vary in size, from length 4.5cm right up to 8cm (1 3/4" to 3 1/4"). Most are 6 to 7cm (2 3/8" to 2 3/4").
